Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State as part of his resolve to ensure accountability in public service, has reaffirmed commitment to prosecute any government official involved in corrupt practices.
Governor Ortom said this on Tuesday while swearing in the Chairman and Commissioners of Local Government Service Commission, as well as a member of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission, BSIEC.
In the same gathering, Ortom also inaugurated the Benue State Planning Commission heading as the Chairman and his Deputy, Engineer Benson Abounu, as Alternate Chairman.
He urged all the appointees to be transparent as it is the only thing that could make public officials free from prosecution when they leave office.
The also Governor charged Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission to work tirelessly to produce the authentic staff list at the third tier of government in order to eliminate ghost names from the payroll and pave way for greater employment opportunities.
The Governor indicated that to improve efficiency, continuing sanitation should be replicated at the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, in the Unified Local Government Service.
Dr. Bem Melladu, responded on behalf of the Local Government Service Commission and thanked the Governor for his accountability, promising to work assiduously to justify the trust he and the other members had in him.
Hon. Terkaa Mamwoo, Ochekliye Adugba, Nyigba Godwin and Dr. Tsetim Ayargwer were sworn-in as Commissioners of the Local Government Service Commission while Mr. Sunday Agbaji took oath as a member of BSIEC.
